This hotel is essentially at a motorway services. But is far nicer than many motorway service hotels in the UK. Nice rooms, comfy bed, good wifi and slept well. Even though my room over looked the motorway it was soundproofed which was good. I didnt eat here but there was a foodcourt in the services and also another services just a few minutes away. Interestingly though, in my room (215) there is clear evidence that the door to the room and bathroom have clearly been forced open. I hope whatever happened everyone was OK, but fix it and fix it properly as its disconcerting to wonder what might have happened in that room.

Myself and a friend and our children, stayed the night here, on a stop off on our way to a dance competition. We had a very enjoyable time, with special thanks to the hotel receptionist Josh. Who was extremely helpful and so kind. We will definitely be back!

I stayed for two nights while attending a work conference and had a fantastic stay. The room was very comfortable, and the food throughout my stay was excellent. Made good use of the gym as well. A massive thank you to Rasa and all the team for their warm hospitality and great service. Highly recommend!

I wouldn’t usually write a review of anywhere ! But I have hope that in writing this it may help the staff there . When we arrived it was visibly busy with parties etc. we waited with no sign of a staff member . A lovely gentleman then came to check us in . It was obvious by his demeanor that he was under pressure , what we didn’t like was the chewing of gum the entire time he checked us in but that wasn’t the worst . He was trying to watch kids climbing up the side of the stairs and stop them doing that, most definitely not his job but he was trying his best to handle the situation around him! , told us he just got sick (the.child climbing) which we then noticed a wet floor sigh covering the vomit . This was at 5/530 in the evening . He also informed us dinner was fully booked which we didn’t mind because we were headed out. We went to our room , lovely , clean happy with all that . About 6:30/7pm I rang for room service drinks and was told we’ve no room service today at all too busy , which wasn’t ideal but we move . We were leaving to attend a friends party in town at 7:30 when we noticed the vomit still there now just covered with tissue . We returned around midnight maybe 00:30am to notice the vomit still in reception on the floor . No one present around reception untill we went to the lift another gentleman popped his head around a corridor to see who was there . A staff member . We went away to bed again no issues with the room . I feel that maybe for a busy day like we witnessed more staff should have been available. And if ye felt ye had adequate staff then ye have a bigger problem with hygiene. For that vomit to be left there from when we first initially seen it untill more than likely the morning is a disgrace . Right inside the door of the hotel that everyone who walked in or out would have been met with this sight. My issue isn’t with the vomit on the floor at 5 o clock things happen it’s busy but for it to still be there after midnight I think is horrendous. When we checked out at 11am there was noone to be found to check us out . And the wet floor sign still there but thankfully nothing under it . Wouldn’t be in a hurry to stay there again considering the price we paid for a room also.

Pulled into The Maldron Portlaoise with my parents and zero expectations for one night — left wondering why more roadside hotels aren’t this good. Location-wise, it’s basically a teleportation spot right off the M7, perfect for dodging traffic and family squabbles about directions. Rooms? Spotless, comfy, and quiet enough that even my dad’s epic snoring didn’t echo. The vibe is laid-back, no pretentious nonsense — just a clean, solid place to crash with good energy. Now, the staff are the real MVPs. Kate behind the bar is an absolute legend — warm, fast with a pint, and patient enough to deal with my mum’s G&T questions. Breakfast? Jamie and the restaurant manager ran the morning show like pros. Plates were full, coffee was flowing, and the smiles were genuine — not the fake “I’ve had 7 espressos” kind. The hotel was squeaky clean, Wi-Fi was reliable, and there’s even a gym if you feel like pretending you're on a wellness retreat. For three adults escaping real life for a night, it hit the sweet spot. Would 10/10 check in again (and yes, we were actually checked in — thanks Aggie!).

I stayed the night before and rebooked for last night and i have to say my experience was even better. 10 out of 10 all round. The restaurant staff of amelie and auguste to the management of daragh and soushil, could not have done enough for me. So glad to have got a second opportunity to stay here and have experienced this level of hospitality. Justyna on the desk was amazing also!
